Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

As I am typing this, I am making it on the stove. YUM! There is nothing better than taking the time to fully get yourself into the holiday spirit. This year I am decking the halls and fully enjoying all of the Christmas music. (my favorite Pandora station is Celtic Women Holiday. Give it a try...they sound like angels)

I'm in full prep mode for my holiday party so I'm trying to finalize what I will be serving and if you read this post here outlining my party inspiration, you would remember that a hot chocolate bar is the main attraction. This recipe seems like a nice little twist to the typical hot cocoa and I have always adored salted caramel anything. I can't wait to decorate my first Christmas tree and sip on a hot cup of cocoa {extra whipped cream please}

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

  • ½ cup caramels, unwrapped

  • 4 cups milk

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt

  • whipped cream for topping

  1. Combine milk, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan. Warm over medium-low heat.

  2. Stir in chocolate chips. Stir until melted (though there will still be lovely particles of chocolate throughout.)

  3. Add the caramels and sea salt and stir until melted.

  4. Serve with whipped cream if desired and drizzle with caramel sauce.
